The Povoada Way
1. Active learning: Participants are encouraged to be protagonists of their own learning. Instead of a passive approach, they are involved in practical, reflective and collaborative activities that promote the adquisition of knowledge.
2. Integration of disciplines: The activities are designed to address cross-cutting themes, integrating different areas of knowledge. For example, in art workshops, mathematical, historical or environmental concepts can be explored, enriching the educational experience.
3. Inclusion and diversity: Our methodology seeks to guarantee the participation and respect for the diversity of all those involved. This includes adapting activities to meet the needs of children and adolescents with different abilities, providing accessibility resources such as LIBRAS(Brazilian Sign Language) classes, and promoting a safe and welcoming environment.
4. Meaningful learning: Activities are planned in order to connect with the reality and interests of the participants. Through artistic projects, such as the production of handmade canvases or the creation of a handmade “dream books”, the aim is to create a meaningful experience that stimulates creativity, self-expression and a sense of belonging.
5. Group dynamics: In addition to individual activities, group dynamics are used to promote dialogue, cooperation and collective construction. Participants are encouraged to share ideas, listen to different perspectives and work together to achieve common goals.
6. Formative assessment: The assessment is carried out in a continuous and formative manner, that is, it seeks to provide feedback and guidance to improve the learning process. Reflection on individual and collective progress is valued, identifying strengths and areas that need greater attention.
This methodology aims not only to transmit knowledge and skills, but also to promote values such as respect, solidarity, collaboration and citizen awareness. Through art and education, Project Povoada seeks to create a stimulating and transformative environment for children and adolescents from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro.
