Educators are innovators.
The Povoada Project is an initiative that seeks to promote the expansion of citizen awareness through education workshops in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro. The city is home to a large number of favelas, representing a significant portion of its territory. In these spaces, communities face challenges related to the lack of access to basic public services, precarious urbanization and the lack of effective local representative institutions. It involves the active participation of individuals in society, contributing to the resolution of problems faced by the community, city, state or country.
To achieve this objective, it is essential to promote an expansion of citizen awareness. Project Povoada fits into the context of the United Nations Plan for Sustainable Development (UN), contributing to quality education aimed at the full exercise of awareness through education. Through education workshops, our project becomes an effective means of expanding citizen awareness in communities. Art plays a fundamental role in our society, allowing us to express feelings and thoughts in a unique way. In addition, education promotes balance and mental health, respects diversity, develops sensitivity, deepens reflections, improves the individual and, consequently, the collective. Through the creation of positive narratives about children, young people and the territories where they live, art stimulates self-esteem and strengthens the identity of communities.
At Project Povoada, we believe that art and education are powerful tools for social transformation. Our workshops provide , where children and youth from the favelas have the opportunity to explore their creativity, develop artistic and educational skills to expand their worldview. At the same time, these workshops stimulate citizen awareness, awakening the feeling of belonging and the desire to contribute positively to their communities. The Povoada Project is a journey of transformation, which aims to train and strengthen children and young people from the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, providing them with opportunities for growth, personal development and the full exercise of citizenship. We believe that art, combined with education, has the power to open horizons, break down barriers
